Students spend time clarifying the topic using different methods, participating in class discussions, brainstorming ideas, making connections, reflecting, reading background info, identifying keywords & concepts, establishing a focus, assignment planning, setting timelines, due dates, aware that aspects of the defining process occur at each step.
