The Leemings SHS Chess Club once again gained a spot at the Nationals in Melbourne. The group of Yr 8 & 9 boys competed against tough oposition and came in a brilliant 9th position out of 30 teams.
This year, the club has increased in size and we had 62 students competing in the Inter-House tournament at lunchtimes in term 1.
After school Interschool Chess Competition
We also have a Premier and “B” team competing in a fortnightly competition against other schools in the region. The students are doing very well and the new players are learning a lot.
Leeming SHS Chess Club competed in the Interschool Chess Tournament against Lynwood SHS on Thursday, achieving the following results.
Premier Team – Riley, Joe, Elisha and Thomas all winning their matches
B Team - Johann, Felix, Quan and Ethan all played excellent games with Ethan & Felix both winning.
The team won a total of 6 out of the 8 games which was a fantastic effort by all. Many thanks to Thomas's Mum for driving half of the students to Lynwood enabling them to compete, much appreciated.
Well done everyone.

CHESS MANIA AT
LEEMING SHS LIBRARY !!
Congratulations to all competitors in the Leeming Senior High School Chess Teams who played in the Interschool Chess Tournament on Friday, 4th September.
The event took place in the library, with students from various schools in the metropolitan area involved in the Tournament. We had two teams made up from 21 very excited students who competed brilliantly and won first and second place.
As the students came in first and second, this enables them to take extra players to the State Finals. They are the only team to enter a team of 12 players at Perth Modern School on the 25th September
The top players from both teams will compete with the remaining team members able to attend as spectators.
If the students are successful in their bid to play at the National Championships, these will be held in Melbourne at the end of November.
Congratulations again to all the competitors throughout the year
